Domestic Violence Rapid Response Worker

Location: Macarthur, NSW; travel to Macarthur, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas

  • Part-time, 34.20 hours to be worked 9 days per fortnight;  involves on call and work outside of normal business hours, including regular weekend
  • Based in Macarthur; travel to Macarthur, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee areas to meet needs of clients
  • Current NSW Driver Licence is required
  • SCHCADS Level 4, hourly rates from $31.05 depending on qualifications/experience

About the Service

SVDP NSW Support Services provides support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in NSW. It is a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society of NSW and is comprised of 15 plus different programs across the state. SVDP NSW Support Services cares for single men and women, women and children, two parent families, men with children and young men and women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. All our services provide case-management and advocacy for each client.

About the Role                                   

The Domestic Violence Rapid Response Worker will provide immediate support responses for women with or without children who are leaving domestic violence situations.  Support will include after hours response and case management with the aim to work towards achieving positive client focused outcomes, including appropriate exit points.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications in Social Work/Social Science/Community Welfare or other relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Good understanding of homelessness and domestic violence issues and their effects  
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting single women and women and children who are leaving domestic/family violence
  • Willingness to work within the ethos and Mission Statement of the St Vincent de Paul Society
  • Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to work independently and unsupervised
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation as it relates to the workplace
  • Understanding of child protection issues, legislation and requirements
  • Willingness to be on-call and work outside of normal business hours, including regular weekend
  • Willingness to travel as some mobility of location will be required to meet the needs of the client
  • Current NSW driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft suite of programs
