About the Alliance Advisory Group

  • The Alliance Advisory Group (AAG) is a special purpose consortium of five agencies – WAGEC (Lead Agency), Stepping Out Program, Wesley Mission, Jewish House and St Vincent de Paul Society NSW Support Services.
  • The purpose of our consortium is to strengthen collaboration and coordination of the Families Service.  Clients are the centre of the Alliance’s work, decisions and communication, and the collective practice seeks to minimise further impacts of trauma.

  • St Vincent de Paul Society NSW employs two Case Workers for this contract and provides overall support to Case Workers. WAGEC Practice Managers provide day-to-day direction and support.

About the Role                                   

The Case Worker will collaborate with the lead agency, WAGEC and partners to support families. At the direction of WAGEC Practice Managers and SVDP Team Leader, the Case Worker will provide families with a crisis response, transition accommodation, outreach assistance and safe houses for women with children leaving domestic and family violence.  The Case Worker will ensure that families who are or at risk of homelessness are housed and supported to maintain tenancies.  As part of the work to support families, the Case Worker will also identify other agencies to support the case plan that captures the various needs and diversity of families accessing this service. 

The ideal candidate is someone who can work in a dynamic environment, understands the needs of families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and is experienced with the various interventions available within the Specialist Homelessness Sector.  Being female and an experienced Case Worker are essential to this role.

  • Qualifications in Social Work/Social Science/Community Welfare or other relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Possess good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to relate positively and confidently with a wide range of people, in a variety of settings
  • Willingness to work within the ethos and Mission Statement of the St Vincent de Paul Society
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work/client load
  • Sound knowledge of, and an ability to access, a range of relevant community resources, particularly in the areas of drug and alcohol services, mental health, legal assistance, income support, employment service providers, training and accommodation, family assistance and permanent housing options
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to work independently and unsupervised
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation as it relates to the workplace
  • Understanding of child protection issues, legislation and requirements
  • Sound knowledge of the social, community and private rental housing market in NSW
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a caseload and case planning, including people with complex and/or high-level needs
  • Current NSW driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Proficiency with computers
