  • Full-time 38 hours per week
  • Based at Caroline Chisholm Centre for Social Justice, Mount Druitt NSW.  On site parking is available.
  • Hourly rate range starts from $27.26 (SCHCADS, Level 3)
  • Current NSW Driver Licence

What we do

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. About the Service

The Caroline Chisholm Centre(CCC) for Social Justice is an emergency relief, assessment and referral service (Monday – Friday from 9am – 3pm), offering a range of support and services to the people in the Mt Druitt region and larger community. The Centre aims to support people to avoid becoming homeless and achieve stability in their lives.

The Role

The Advocacy and Referral Officer works as part of a multidisciplinary team toward the shared goal of empowering local community members to access resources that will increase quality of life and promote social inclusion.

The role is responsible for providing support to clients who are experiencing disadvantage including barriers to accessing appropriate supports and services within the community. The role will primarily provide non-legal advocacy and referral support, as well as deliver service based and community activities.  Your ability to maintain strong community networks is vital to gaining equitable and diverse engagement opportunities for the people we assist.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum Cert IV in Community Services or relevant field and minimum three years employment in community services sector role.
  • Demonstrated experience providing person centred support to clients who are experiencing disadvantage
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with ATSI and CALD community groups
  • Demonstrated understanding of the not for profit sector
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Driver’s Licence
