Vinnies Shops have started to reopen across the country, and we are now actively recruiting for Casual Store Assistant roles across Sydney Metropolitan and regional NSW locations.

  • Casual roles with expectation to work few shifts a week.
  • Availability to work in different locations within local area ( Inner West, South East, South West, CBD, North West, Northern Sydney, Western Sydney, Greater Western Sydney areas).
  • Retail and Distribution Enterprise Agreement 2015, Team Member Grade 1 - $23.22 per hour plus casual loading where applicable.

About our Shops: 

Vinnies operates a network of 250 op shops across NSW. Vinnies Shops are run by dedicated volunteers and employees, and offer value for money prices on a range of pre-loved goods, they also directly assist people experiencing disadvantage through the donation of furniture, clothing and household goods. Profits from the sale of goods go back into the community, funding our services and programs.

The Role

We are looking for great employees with retail experience to assist with  with the daily operation of the store and to provide efficient customer service. The role will report to the Store Manager.  Please click here for a copy of the Position Description.

As a Casual Store Assistant your responsibilities will include: 

  • Stock and Merchandise Sales Floor

Store Assistants will assist to replenish items on the floor when they get low. This duty can involve lifting and carrying items short distances. In addition to filling the floor, Store Assistants have to keep the floor organized according to their employer’s visual merchandising standards.

  • Process and Receive Shipment

Store Assistants also help to process and receive shipments. This duty can involve lifting and carrying items short distances.

  • Perform Store Opening and Closing Tasks

The store opening and closing processes a range of tasks such as washing windows and mirrors, sweeping the sales floor and organizing items on the sales floor based on Vinnies standards.

  • Provide excellent Customer Service

Our Store Assistants use communication skills to identify customer needs, and they use their product knowledge to provide solutions.

Store Assistants  will be expected to:

  • Listen actively to customers to identify their needs
  • Use specific product knowledge to provide solutions to customers
  • Prioritise tasks to maximize efficiency each work shift
  • Organise items on the sales floor based on knowledge of company visual standards
  • Solve customer inquiries and resolve issues as they arise

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience in a retail store or customer service environment.
  • Demonstrated ‘Customer-centric’ approach.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and extended opening hours as required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work with financial targets and budgets.
  • The ability to ensure stock levels are maintained and stock is sorted, priced and presented to high standard.
